Schoolfield Museum and Cultural Center
The Schoolfield Preservation Foundation was formed in May of 2007 to attempt to preserve the memories of everything Schoolfield. The property at 917 West Main Street was purchased in December of 2008 and the Foundation vowed to bring the Dan River Welfare Building back to life. The next 2.5 years were filled with fundraising and hard work to bring the dream of a museum to fruition. We opened the doors to the public on June 23rd, 2011. Donations and Grants funded the repairs and renovations to repurpose the beautiful old building into a museum and cultural center.
The Schoolfield Museum and Cultural Center is open on Saturdays from 2-5 p.m. and by appointment.
