Simpson Funeral Museum

Welcome to Simpson Funeral Museum in Historic Chatham, Virginia. Prepare to go on a journey through time as we take you from Ancient Egypt’s mummification process of the Pharaohs to today’s modern burial practices. We have award winning antique hearses on display, as well as antique coffins, presidential caskets, vaults, antique embalming room and regalia galore. Here at Simpson Funeral Museum we are preserving our heritage for posterity; an eternal tribute to an eternal profession.

The location of the museum is the original site of the first funeral home in Chatham, Virginia, in the late 1800’s.

Admission to the Simpson Funeral Museum is free. We are a 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization. Donations are welcome!

The museum is open to the general public Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m.- noon. Private tours are available by appointment.
