Danville’s Riverwalk Trail and the Ringgold Rail Trail are easily accessible for walking, running and biking in a beautiful atmosphere, while Angler’s Ridge Trail System is well known for mountain biking. Numerous rivers and lakes throughout the region are ideal for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Need an adrenaline boost? Take a ride on Danville’s Zip Line or visit Virginia International Raceway for a day of excitement.
Danville Pittsylvania County is a history buff’s dream. From the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, to the Pittsylvania County History Research Center and Library to over 40 historic markers and the AAF Tank Museum, a wealth of history resides here! Want to travel back in time? Reenactments from the Pittsylvania Historical Society and the Danville Historical Society take place at many events throughout the year.
The arts scene in DPC is constantly growing! Reid Street Gallery and the Danvillian Gallery offer local artist’s exhibits that change continuously. The North Theatre, Arts at Averett, Danville Little Theatre and Gretna Little Theatre provide entertainment throughout the year. The Danville Concert Association and Danville Symphony Orchestra also delight the stage with periodic performances. Danville Pittsylvania County is also home to numerous murals painted on renovated buildings downtown.
